New project: Home First Aid Kit

A new project for the next few months includes setting up a year-long first aid kit for one (adult) person. It will take a few months because it's really an investment.

Items to include

Basic supplies

• 300 adhesive bandages

• 100 gauze pads

• 15 roller gauze

• 5 adhesive tapes

• 300 antiseptic wipes

• 6 tubes antimicrobial ointment

• 100 sterile gloves

• Tweezers

• Trauma scissors

• 8 elastic bandages

• 30 safety pins

• 50 face masks

Wound care

• 2 250 ml bottles of antiseptic spray

• 2 250 ml bottles of saline solution

• 100 steri-strips

• 20 packets of burn gel or 1 big tube/2 small tubes

• 10 burn dressings

• 2 125 ml eye washes

• 3 hemostatic agents like quickclot

• 1 Sam Splint

• 8 triangular bandages

Medications

• 500 pain relievers

• 200 antihistamines

• 100 antidiarrhials

• 50 laxatives

• 50 electrolyte tablets

• 100 cold/flu tablets

• 200 antacids

• 4 courses of antibiotics for 7-10 days (only in emergencies!)

• 365 days worth of prescription meds (beginning with a 3-month supply)
